One of Scotland’s most exciting, upcoming bands, The Capollos, are back with another great track, which expresses ideas of love and determination.

‘Lay Your Love’ has aptly been released on Valentine’s day, as love is a constant reference in the song. Love affects every one of us in different ways, making it easier for the listener to be able to connect with the band. Hopeful and caring intentions are conveyed in the lyrics, which tell a spirited story of a relationship.

“So what’s it gonna be, is it me, that you were looking for?” — The Capollos

‘Lay Your Love’ is constructed in an original way compared to other love songs. If we took The Beatles as an example, their love songs are punchy and concise, lasting between 2 and 3 minutes on average. Yet, The Capollos have created an epic track, with a duration of over 5 minutes, showcasing what they can bring to the modern music scene.

After hearing ‘Lay Your Love’ for the first time, I instantly wanted to listen to it on repeat. I immediately fell in love with the introduction, which is brought to life by an electric guitar hook, which engages the listener completely.

My favourite feature of this song is the vocals. I love the way McDonald elongates the word ‘girl’, which produces a powerful sound, as well as accentuating the start of the choruses. The euphonious vocals flow smoothly, contrasting with the immense use of guitar and the effervescent drum pattern.

“Girl, lay your love on me now” — The Capollos

The Capollos couldn’t have come back with a better track to follow up ‘Yours, Now, Forever’; another indie tune that revels in the topic of love. I have really enjoyed what I have heard so far from the lads, yet I feel the best is still to come. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for The Capollos and enjoy your Valentine’s Day.
